KINESTHETIC ARTS - Making Learning Kinesthetic and Creative
Kinesthetic Arts Philosophy
My goal is to assist teachers in helping students unlock their potential talents through Storytelling, Mime, and Movement. These performing arts can be used by teachers and students not only unlock talent, but also to "lock-in" learning through motivational strategies that use the total sensory quintet. The art forms, Storytelling, Sound, Art, Mime, and Movement are most effective when students are aked to translate stamdards from one medium (text, listening, or even labs) to an an artistic medium. When students can transform understandings, we can see what they know and feel is important. Viola Spolin said in her book, THEATRE GAMES, "We must reconsider what is meant by 'talent.' it is highly possible that what is called talented behavior is simply a greater individual capacity for experiencing. From this point of view, it is in the increasing of the individual capacity for experinecing that the untold potentiality of a personality can be evoked."
